Methi Thepla

Theplas are popular Indian flat bread  and Methi  thepla is  one of the most common bread made in all Gujarati home.Methi theplas are light and healthy, we can have it in breakfast or as in evening snacks too. Winter is the best time to have this aromatic fresh green leafs,bright green color so eye soothing and flavorful.

Knowing all the health benefits of greens still I struggle feeding veggies to my kids,this way you can add some greens in their diet too. Ingredients

    • 1 cup methi leaves/fenugreek leaves
    • 1 cup whole wheat flour
    • 1 cup pearl millet flour(bajra flour)
    • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
    • 2 tbsp jiggery
    • 1 tbsp seasame seeds
    • 2 green chilies
    • ½ tsp red chili powder
    • ½ tsp turmeric powder
    • ½ tsp cumin powder
    • ½ tsp coriander powder
    • salt to taste
    • 2 tbsp oil
    • 5 tbsp yogurt/dahi
    • fresh coriander chopped

Instruction

    1. Rinse 1 cup methi leaves very well in water, drain them and chop them finely.
    2. keep aside.
    3. In a mixing bowl, take 1 cup whole wheat flour,1 cup millet flour, add all the spices and herbs with chopped methi leaves.
    4. mix everything well.
    5. Add curd mix again, Next take water and melt jaggery in it knead dough using this jaggery warm water.
    6. knead the dough very well adding 1 tbsp oil in it.
    7. make medium sized balls from the dough with the help of rolling pin start rolling thepla to round shape and roast it on hot tawa with few drops of oil.
    8. You can serve it with curd or any spicy pickle.
